Collins Owiti, is a Kenyan national, with over 16 years of professional experience in the commercial banking and development sector. He is a certified retail banker with a vast experience in various banking disciplines such as Microfinance, Agency banking, SME lending and building Strategic partnerships. He has been involved in undertaking key assignments during his tenure with the various financial institutions that he has worked for. Notably, at Equity bank, he was part of the initial team that rolled out agency banking in Kenya. At Family bank, he spearheaded various strategic partnerships such as the roll out of the partnership with Safaricom & Water.org. He was also part of the core team that led the liaison with the Kenya National Treasury and NCBA to entrench the implementation of the Kenya Credit Guarantee Scheme for MSMEs.
His near 3 year stint at Water.org where he worked as a Snr. Partnership Accounts Manager saw him establish and manage portfolios of WASH lending programs with commercial banks and microfinance institutions across the East African Region. He further managed the grants utilization as a grants point of contact for programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda & Rwanda. He contributed immensely to the design of new proposals and concept ideas for new philanthropic funding across the East African region and Nigeria. He further designed and crafted the Rwanda market FY 25-27 strategic plan for Water.org’s technical assistance program.
Collins is currently pursuing a Certified Climate & Renewable Energy Expert certification from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Education(Science) from Kenyatta University. Additionally, he has certification in Retail banking, Sustainable Finance and Advanced Credit Analysis. He has a vast network with key financial institutions within the region and has a keen eye for developing strategic partnerships that derive value. Collins is fluent in English and Kiswahili and speaks French at intermediate level.
